In our attention-deprived, emotion-heavy times, micro-memoir (aka flash creative nonfiction) is a genre on the rise.
Micro-memoirs are tiny word tapestries made from elements of prose poetry and flash fiction, illuminating in 1,000 words or less something about their human existence, big or small but always visceral.
Each session of this course will begin by reading and discussing sample flash essays, then transition to writing to a related prompt in supportive company.
The second and fourth sessions will also include constructive workshopping, focusing on elevating each writer and their work.
Writers will come away with three new essays, drafts or finished or both.
No experience necessary.
Session dates (6:30-8:30 pm):
May 19
May 26
