Rhino celebrates 50 years!

On display on the 3rd floor of the Main Library from April 1 - April 30.

Rhino is a nationally and internationally recognized poetry journal that has grown and strengthened for 50 years. It began humbly enough: as a modest publication opportunity for a group of writers who gathered on a regular basis and workshopped their poems. It was staple-bound, decorated with hand-drawn illustrations, and nearly closed after its third year.

Rhino now receives over 10,000 poems per year, selecting only about 1% for publication in its pages. Rhino is proud to call this place home and proud of this poetry journal. Please enjoy this exhibit, and if you’d like to take a Rhino home with you, there are some free back issues available for anyone who wants one.
